First... I can't stop eating! Like seriously, the last two weeks ALL I want to do is freakin' eat! I feel like I have NO control over this. If I try and not eat, I get insanely irritable (more-so than normal) and the only thing that seems to make me not want to yell at everyone is to snack. I'm not talking normal meals here, I'm talking about mindless snacking in between meals. I don't know if my appetite is a result of the baby growing, but I'm thinking not. I think I'm just getting uncomfortable and grouchy and one of the few pleasurable things I have left is eating - so I eat. My weight gain has completely been on track this entire pregnancy, so I don't really want to blow it gain a ton in the next few months! As of last Wednesday I am up 24 lbs. Judging by how I've eaten for the last week, I am terrified to weigh myself this week. I'd rather not gain more than the recommended 25-35 lbs, so I really need to watch this! But at the same time, when I get crabby I just don't care anymore. *sigh* I can't win.
Second... I can't sleep. I can't sleep!! I dont' know why. It's not that I'm uncomfortable (I am, but I got used to it a long time ago and always slept through it, so that's not it), I'm not worried about anything, I don't have restless leg syndrom, there is seriously NO reason I should not be sleeping! NONE! I lay there in bed and stare around the bedroom completely and totally exhausted and yet I just can't fall asleep. I just lay there. And you have no idea how close I've come to punching Jer in the face when I can hear him really fall asleep - you know how someones breathing pattern changes when they're OUT? It makes me so angry because I know I'll never achieve that, so I just stare at him and fume! lol. Luckily I haven't acted out any of my agression on him, yet anyway... Finally around 2-3 a.m. I will usually drift off, but never in a very deep sleep, and then I wake up once the sun barely starts to show itself. This is really starting to get to me. This started last week and all I know is that I'm a worthless employee today. I can't focus and I'm hardly getting anything done - but I have TONS to do. I just don't care, I'm so tired that I'm moving at a snails pace. At least everyone at work knows I'm having trouble sleeping and sees how tired I am, so hopefully they understand. I am not one to take medication during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary, heck, I've probably only taken Tylenol a handful of time... But if I'm not OUT by 11 p.m. tonight I am totally taking some Tylenol PM. My doctor says it's okay, and though I didn't want to take anything like that while pregnant, I'm just to the point where if I don't I'm not going to be able to function.
Those are my only two real complaints. I'm used to the general discomfort of pregnancy, so that doesn't bother me. And I usually forget all about it once I feel the baby move anyway. (c: There, complaining over. Thanks for letting me vent. lol.
On a happy note (told you I'd have one!), Jer and I had the baby shower this weekend! My mom, sister-in-law, and sisters hosted it at my brother and sil's house and it was amazing! They put so much work into it and it was a great time. Tons of people from both sides of the family, plus some of our friends, came to celebrate our little one and we loved being able to see everyone and catch up. I wish we would've been able to talk to everyone a little more, but there were so many people and it was difficult to have a long conversation with everyone there. Everyone is just so excited about this baby and that makes us even more excited!! We got a lot of wonderful gifts and are so appreciative of everyones generosity. Here are a few pictures - I'll add more as we recieve them from other people:

My last doctors appointment was last Tuesday. I saw Dr. O'neil that day (still working my way through all the doctors at Family Practice) and he said everything looked great. I was measuring 30 1/2, which he said is perfect and right on track for a 7 1/2-8 lb baby! Baby's heartbeat was 144 and the baby was nice and comfy in the "hammock position." I'd never heard that term before, but it's exactly as it sounds. lol. Baby is kind of on a diaganol, with its head under my right rib and its feet near by left hip - though I'm pretty sure she's moved here and there since. lol. Seriously, this baby is on the move all the time! Well, not all day - but every night and morning! Daytime seems to be sleepy time... Hopefully this changes after she's born!!!! hahaha. My next appointment is on August 25 with Dr. Stortzum.

Lack of sleep and No Lack of Appetite. Classic case of the pregnancies. I remember those days. Hang in there. There is light at the end of the tunnel!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren! We have never met and I'm not sure if you've heard my name before or not. I'm one of Jeremy's cousins that's down in Texas. I was talking to Aunt Brenda on facebook and she gave me the link to your blog. You have NO IDEA how similar our pregnancies are! I just read your three most recent posts and it's unbelievable! I am currently expecting my second child, and would you believe we are planning on naming her Lauren! :) I dealt with preterm labor with my son (who is 17 months old now) and still ended up being induced in the end of the pregnancy! I have a lot of Braxton Hicks with this pregnancy too. They even, actually, feel stronger than I remember with the first. I feel your pain and your fatigue right now! I am just a few weeks behind you apparently, we are expecting our little Lauren somewhere around November 3rd. Congrats on your pregnancy and making it through all you've been through already! Hang in there, it is SO worth it! I hope to meet you someday and see stinky old Jeremy again...I can't remember the last time I saw him! :) Take care of yourself. --- Rachel (Crisman) Didlake
