Alright, now onto the real update (I kept the nursery pictures separate so I wouldn't clutter this one too much).
First, I will be 28 weeks on Friday. Do you know what that means? I am about to start the THIRD TRIMESTER!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe I am 2/3 of the way there!
Second, my doctors appointment went well yesterday. I had my glucose tolerance test, which means I had to down this super saturated sugary cola drink, wait an hour, then have my blood drawn. Fun. They took three viles of blood out of me, which I wasn't expecting. I figured they would do the finger prick to check my blood sugar - but I guess they also took this opportunity to check my iron levels and all that other stuff to make sure my levels weren't off. That's all fine and good, but wouldn't you not want to check my general health right after I downed an insane amount of sugar? Whatever. Anyway, they said they would have the results today and since I haven't gotten a phone call, I'm assuming I passed the test. Otherwise, baby's heartbeat was 135 and I was measuring perfectly for 27 weeks. I've been getting a lot of braxton hicks contractions, so I asked my doctor about that. She said I shouldn't be having more than 4 in an hour... The thing is, there have been plenty of times where I've had more than 4 in an hour. Sometimes I will literally get them every 2-3 minutes for an hour straight. However, once I sit down and drink a jug of water they go away. It's my own fault... I push myself. Maybe painting an entire bedroom at once isn't a good idea for me right now. Maybe I shouldn't try cleaning the entire house from top to bottom, then walking the dogs, then making dinner.......... Some days I will only sit down for maybe 30 minutes the entire time Jer's at work. I need to relax more. I explained all of this to her and she agreed that I've been bringing them on myself and that she isn't worried since they always go away once I relax. She doesn't want me doing so much at once anymore. So I'm relaxing and I really haven't gotten any. I usually still get a few a day, usually if the baby kicks super freakin' hard or if I go outside and it's hot, but nothing out of the ordinary. So yeah, I still have a lot of big cleaning projects to tackle while I'm off of work this month (I go back on July 31), but I'm going to be good about spacing them out and not doing too much in one day. Otherwise, she said she is incredibly impressed with my weight gain. At 27 weeks I've gained 18 pounds. She said most people have gained A LOT more than that at his point and that she was very happy I haven't used pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever I want. That made me feel pretty good, because it has been tempting to just eat whatever, whenever. I'm not saying I don't fall off the wagon sometimes, but for the most part I'm good (she says as she just baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies, lol). The only other thing we discussed was my birth plan. I gave her a copy to review, so she glanced over it quickly and said she thought she was okay with everything, but that she would look it over in more detail and if all was good she would sign it and send a copy to the hospital. Yay! My doctor is truly awesome and I love that she's so supportive of everything I want for this birth. The one thing that cracks me up is how different my appointments are when I'm alone. When Jer is with me it's always business as usual with my appointments, but when he's not with me my doctor almost treats me more like a friend and we talk about girly crap like clothes and what-not and it just seems more, I don't know, open? I'm not saying I don't like him being there, I do, but there's just a different vibe.
That said, Jer'll have to start coming with to my next batch of appointments whether he wants to or not! lol. I'm now going into every-other-week appointments and starting on July 28 we have to meet with all of the other doctors in the practice, just in case they end up being the ones to deliver the baby. I'd like for him to meet them too, so I'm making him come with. hee hee.
Finally, baby has been moving a lot more and she's been kicking a lot harder. So much so that we can see her kicking from the outside now!! It's amazing. I didn't expect to see movement so soon! For your viewing pleasure, here are some videos! Obviously me breathing is not the baby moving... It's pretty obvious when the baby does move.
