GIRL!!!
Most likely anyway. *grin*
We had our ultrasound at the doctors office yesterday and Dr. Reeves seemed pretty sure that we're having a little girl. She did recommend that we don't do anything drastic - like paint the nursery hot pink - since it can be difficult to know for certain that a girl is truly a girl until she's born. With a boy it's pretty obvious, with a girl... Not so much.
I would never in a million years be upset if it came down to it and we ended up having a boy (and I can't understand how some people are upset when this happens). This is my baby and I will be thrilled regardless. I'll just have a few items to return is all. hahaha. The bedding set we plan on going with is a combination of sage green, beige, and light brown so there isn't any reason to worry there. I will buy some cute little girl outfits as I find them, but those outfits will not have the tags removed and be washed until after the baby is born, just in case. Well, except for one. I will wash and have one girlie outfit ready for when we bring the baby home from the hospital, but I will also bring along a backup gender neutral outfit just in case. As for the stroller, carseat, playpen, etc. etc. etc. I had always planned on going with gender neutral colors anyway, because we do plan on having another baby one day and I don't want to have to rebuy any of that stuff should we have the opposite gender.
Anyway, Jeremy and I are extremely excited!! Now comes the fun part of figuring out a name. We had it narrowed down to a few with boys names, but girls names have always kind of been up in the air. I have a short list of names I really like - but I'm not sure how Jer feels about any of them. I'm not sure if he has any names in mind for a girl. If he did, he wasn't sharing. lol. I'm going to start going through some of those name web sites in the next few days for more ideas, then we're going to rank all of them and see if we agree on any. Why do I have a feeling that I'm going to end up loving one and he's going to end up loving another? lol. Oh well, as I've said all along... I get final say. *grin* No, I'd never name our child something Jer hates, that's out of the question. But if it comes down to two names on the list of names we both already agreed on, with him prefering one and me prefering the other... Well, I win. I'm giving birth, I win. The end. Plus I let him name the dogs. hahaha.
Oh, and I'm sure most of you already know this, but in case you don't, we will not be disclosing the name until after the baby is born. Please respect our decision and do not harass us about this. As of right now we don't even know what we're going to name her, so there's no way we could tell you even if we wanted to... But when we do decide, it's for us to know and you to find out. Most people that we've told have taken this news very well, um, except for my mom. She has herself convinced that Jeremy and I have already picked out some crazy ass name and that's why we don't want to tell anyone. I can assure you all, no weird or strangely spelled names are on the list - just as there are no super common names. Well actually, I think there is one name that is starting to become pretty common and that kind of irks me, but I still like it a lot and therefore it is still in the running. Our reason for this decision is because we don't want opinions. I know too many people who decided on a name, told family and friends, and had a ton of people react poorly and say things like "why on Earth would you name your child that!?" or even stupid things like "I had an x-girlfriend named that and she was such a bitch" or other such things. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must be to hear someone say that about the name you chose for your child, so we decided we won't even make it a possibility. Once the baby is here it is too late, so from what I've read people don't generally have a bad reaction to the name you chose after the baby is born. Plus I take pleasure in making you all wait and suffer. Muah ha ha ha ha!!!
Anyyyyyyyway... The baby was extremely active yesterday, so it was amazing to be able to see the baby kick on the ultrasound AND feel it at the same time! Dr. Reeves even said "you have one healthy and active baby in there!" Unfortunately, I was only able to see my baby girl for a minute. The screen was turned away from me most of the time, but at least Jer got to watch (though he says he has no idea what he was looking at). I also didn't get any pictures. There wasn't a printer hooked up to the ultrasound machine, so I doubt there was any way to get one, but I was still disappointed. I knew I should've have Jer bring the camera and take a video! Oh well, we'll get to see her soon enough...
I would love to get one of those 3D ultrasounds, but I don't know of anyplace around here that does them. I'm sure there's some place in or near Chicago, but I think it's several hundred dollars to have done and I'm not sure if I want to shell out that kind of cash when I could be putting it towards things the baby needs.
Well I suppose that's it for now. I'm sure I could ramble on more, but I'll save that for another post. Our next appointment is scheduled for July 13 at 1:20 p.m. I get to do the glucose tolerance test at that appointment. I can't wait to drink that sugary syrup crap! *gag*
P.S. How the heck am I 6 months pregnant already???!!!!!!!!!!

Lauren- I think there is an ultrasound program at Carl Sandberg College in Galesburg that does those ultrasounds. Yoy might look into that if you want a 3D. We did and it was super cool.
ReplyDeleteDon't fret about the glucose test. It really isn't as bad as most people say it is. I was kinda disappointed that it only tasted like orange soda! I wanted the sugary crap!! :)
Congrats on the girl!

ReplyDeleteWell, see, when a man and woman come together... ;)
Name-haters...who needs 'em?! How are people that selfish?! I had a girl name that I liked and now it's all over the place...boo to names that become popular(ish) because of random celebrity wannabes...
